What are veins? Why do they appear?

Veins are tubes that transmit blood in one direction, from the feet back to the heart. The arteries carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

The blood that flows in the veins is omnidirectional. This process is enabled through one-way valves which are locked inside the tubes (veins).

During leg muscular contractions, under normal conditions, the blood in the veins flows up towards the heart and the valves shut down.

Under abnormal conditions the veins expand as a result of failure of valves, which causes a leak and blood to flow in the opposite direction. As a result a swollen enlarged and twisted (varicose) vein is formed.

Can veins be removed?

Of course!

Varicose veins are a medical problem which must be treated in order to avoid any complications such as sore legs, swollenness, discomfort, and cramps.

In addition, varicose veins may aggregate into infections in which case blood clots may clog the veins.

Which treatments are offered today?

Today, most cases can be treated without invasive surgery.

The recommended treatment is laser treatment.

The capillaries are visible and swollen as a result of the enlarged small vessels (under normal conditions their diameter is less than 0.1 mm and are therefore not visible).

The capillaries form red or blue parallel lines or a star shaped web (spider). In most cases it is strictly an aesthetic problem.

What does the laser do to the veins?

At my medical center, I use the most advanced laser equipment with which I make the small capillaries disappear in an efficient and safe way. The laser device injects a laser beam without harming the tissues around the vessels. As a result, the sides of the capillaries stick together and the capillaries shrink and vanish. This treatment is suitable for vessels that are up to 4mm wide.

What are the advantages of this treatment?

It is a fast and safe treatment that accomplishes the goal of making the capillaries disappear.

How long does it last?

It takes place as a series of sessions with each session lasting about 20 minutes.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is almost pain freeyou might sense slight heat and a small tingling at the site.

Is it a single treatment or a series of treatments?

The patient should usually expect between 1 to 3 sessions.

There are almost no side effects since there are no substances being injected into the body. This allows us to treat larger areas and thus reducing the number of sessions.

How long should I wait between sessions?

5 weeks
